My motivation and mission for New Norm
Some of you have followed me from the start, for some of you this will be the first time you’ve heard of New Norm. Either way, hello, and thanks for checking us out!
You probably wouldn't describe me as shy but I don’t really like talking about 'my journey', I’d much rather talk about food! I guess like a lot of people who are feeling their way through building their own business, I’m sorry to say it, but I’ve got a bit of imposter syndrome.
I first tried to move towards a plant-based diet when I was working full time and travelling a lot...I could barely make it a week. I basically had to plan, prep and cook all of my meals in advance and even then it all went out the window when I was travelling because you can’t take a flask of soup in your hand luggage! At the time I worked long hours and whilst I enjoyed cooking I didn’t want to spend every waking hour I wasn’t working cooking!
With literally thousands of meal boxes, takeaways, fast food places, ready meal options and delivery services all available to meat eaters, granted more and more are catering for vegetarians and vegans now too, but it still seemed next to impossible to find quick and easy plant-based meal solutions.
My first thought was, this sucks!
My second was, maybe I can do something about this!?
From that point on my mission was to make it easier for people to enjoy a plant-based diet. I wasn’t entirely sure how I was going to do it, or what it was going to look like, but there was an it and I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
So, with nothing more than a background in branding and marketing, a back catalogue of my favourite soup and stew recipes and a relatively new found fascination for plant-based nutrition I began my journey towards launching New Norm.
It simmered away in the background for nearly a year before I finally took the plunge and quit my full-time job. 10 months later and I’m pleased to say that I now spend my days making it easier for people to enjoy a plant-based diet.
For some people that’s with a weekly subscription to a complete meal plan where they get homemade breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks delivered to their door. For others its delivering healthy lunches to their office or stocking their freezer with a bundle of plant-based ready meals so there’s something quick, easy and healthy to stick in the microwave when life gets a bit full on. And for some it might just be them following my facebook page and getting some recipe inspiration.
My aim for 2019 is to continue to make enjoying a plant-based diet, and all the benefits that go with that more accessible. Whether you’re striving for a 100% plant-based diet or you just want to flip your meat/ plant-based ratio, New Norm is here to help you achieve your on-going nutrition goals.
